Wilborada 1047 opened its doors to the public in October 2014 in the Quinta Camacho neighborhood. It blends the concepts of a bookstore and a coffee shop, all housed in a three-story, Tudor-style house built in 1943, located in Chapinero. The house was refurbished to hold over 20,000 books.
The name comes from Saint Wilborada, the patron saint of books and librarians, who was the first woman canonized by the Catholic Church in the year 1047—a number that, as you may notice, is also part of both the bookstore's name and its address (Calle 71 #10-47).
We have a section of books in various languages, mostly in English, for both adults and children. We’d love to see you, feel free to talk to us in english, come try CaféCultor’s coffee, ask for a house tour where we’ll share fun stories about the house and the bookstore, and we’ll be happy to give you a personalized book recommendation.
We are opened Monday - Saturday 10:47 a.m to 7:30 p.m. and Sundays 12 m. to 4:00 p.m. (We are not open on holidays).
